Fordham Stands Atop Atlantic 10 Following First Weekend of Conference Matchups

  The Fordham softball team opened up its 2012 conference schedule last Friday in the midst of a five game winning streak. The initial Atlantic 10 battle took place in a doubleheader against the La Salle Explorers. The first game of the day had Fordham continuing its winning ways as the Rams defeated the Explorers 9-1.

  Senior infielder Nicole Callahan is a captain and leader  of the Fordham softball team. After an accolade-filled high school career in Freehold, New Jersey, Nicole burst on to the scene in her sophomore year, when she played in 44 of the team’s 61 games, and collected 30 hits and 14 runs.

Rams win four of five at JMU Invitational over spring break to improve to 12-14 overall

  The Fordham softball team made progress in getting back to .500, going 4-1 in the James Madison University Days Inn Invitational and defeating St. John’s at the opening of the newly-renovated Bahoshy Park on Tuesday, upping its overall record to 12-14.

  The Fordham softball team is one of the most successful programs in the athletic department, and it hopes to continue its successes this year as it kicks off its 2012 season. The Rams are coming off one of the most successful years in the program's history.

Senior pitcher Jen Mineau has been the ace of the Fordham softball staff since her first season with the Rams. She enters her senior season already in possession of the Fordham records for most career no-hitters (7) and perfect games (4). She also holds the school records for career wins and strikeouts.

It has been very easy in recent years to mock the last line of Fordham's fight song, as the school's top-funded sports teams frequently seem to choose the latter of the two options. Over the last five years, going back to the 2007-08 school year, Fordham's football, men's basketball and women's basketball programs have a combined record of 98-234, a win percentage of only .
