BusinessWeek has ranked Fordham University's College of Business Administration as the 27th Best Undergraduate Business Program in the country. The magazine released its annual rankings of the top 50 national programs last week.

"The rankings reflect many of the positive aspects of the undergraduate business program here at Fordham," Donna Rapaccioli, dean of the College of Business Administration, said. "Student internships, on-site CEO Breakfasts, guest speakers on campus and week-long events highlighting career opportunities, globalization and entrepreneurship make the CBA experience unique."

The ratings are based on surveys distributed to undergraduate business school seniors and corporate recruiters. Other factors such as starting salaries, percent entrance into MBA programs and faculty quality are also assessed when creating these rankings.

CBA ranked 34th in last year's 2007 survey, moving up seven ranks in just one year. In the corporate recruiter surveys, Fordham moved from 42nd to 13th, an enormous 29-place jump.

Rapaccioli expressed a number of factors that helped distinguish CBA as one of the 27 best business schools in the country.

"First and foremost are the students," Rapaccioli said. "They are intelligent, inquisitive, energetic, and compassionate with high standards for themselves. The dedicated faculty brings a mix of practical work experience and academic training to the classroom. Additionally, the depth and breadth of the CBA focus on student, professional and personal development is not only a key differentiator for CBA as a school, but it positions our students well in the job market."

CBA students had a direct and important influence on this accomplishment, submitting very positive survey responses to BusinessWeek this past fall. According to Rapaccioli, many of their responses focused on CBA's dedication to ethics and social responsibility offered to students through many unique opportunities.
