Fordham Business Students Experience Other Cultures Firsthand

  Originally scheduled for Feb. 10 as part of International Business Week but canceled because of a snow day, G.L.O.B.E.’s International Speed Dating event was held two weeks later, on Feb. 24 in the McGinley Center Ballroom. Though not embodying a literal interpretation of its name, the event nevertheless provided a forum for students to learn about business opportunities in numerous other countries from students who hail from those places.

  The African Cultural Exchange was formally granted official club status by unanimous vote of the USG senate at their meeting on March 4. The club focuses on promoting Africa on campus through events and growing cultural awareness and works to help international students from Africa assimilate into the culture.

Michael Sulick, Director of National Clandestine Services, to Give Government Service Lecture

  Michael Sulick, Director of the National Clandestine Service will give the lecture in Keating First Auditorium at 7 p.m. on March 25, the banner event in this year’s Fordham Week. Sulick has been at this post in the Central Intelligence Agency since 2007, having previously served in the Agency from 1980 to 2004.

University Community Mourns Loss of CBA Senior

  Monika Mroczkowski, CBA ’10, died on March 3 of a sudden illness at Bellevue Hospital Center. Mroczkowski, who fell ill on March 1 at her apartment Brooklyn, was rushed to the hospital, but doctors were unable to revive her. At the request of her family, Fordham did not give any specific information regarding the nature of Monkia’s illness.

USG Hosts Forum with Dean Latham

  According to Latham, approximately one-third of FCRH students study abroad, a statistic he is looking to increase. Acknowledging that the fact that merit money does not follow students abroad is a major hindrance, Latham said he will work to provide more opportunities for students to get grants and scholarships that enable them to cover the costs of studying abroad.

The Ram Receives an Inside Preview of Campbell, Salice-Conley Halls as Construction Nears Completion

  With the housing lottery rapidly approaching, many students are curious as to the construction status of Campbell and Salice-Conley Halls. ResLife estimates that the majority of rising seniors will occupy these new buildings. As of March 8, when The Ram was given photographic access to the construction site, the building process was actively moving forward and people involved with construction were optimistic about the scheduled fall 2010 opening date. 1 comment
