Monika Mroczkowski, CBA '10, died on March 3 of a sudden illness at Bellevue Hospital Center. Mroczkowski, who fell ill on March 1 at her apartment Brooklyn, was rushed to the hospital, but doctors were unable to revive her.
At the request of her family, Fordham did not give any specific information regarding the nature of Monkia's illness.
Mroczkowski died, surrounded by her family, the night of March 3. Her parents, Bogdan and Janina Mroczkowski, her brother Robert Mroczkowski and other family members survive her.
"Our hearts go out to Monika's family and friends, and to the CBA community, at this terrible loss," Rev. Joseph M. McShane, S.J., president of Fordham University, said. "Monika's death is deeply upsetting, especially so given her youth and promise. Her family and friends will need our support, support I know the University family offers unstintingly. Please join me in praying for Monika, and her loved ones in their hour of grief."
Fordham faculty, including Donna Rapaccioli, Ph.D., dean of the College of Business Administration, in addition to Student Affairs staff have sought to provide support to classmates of Mroczkowski and will continue to do so as students find it necessary. Grief counseling services is and will continue to be available to those that need them.
Viewings were held on March 7 and March 8 at the Boyd Spence Funeral Home in Babylon, N.Y.
Mroczkowski's funeral was held March 9 at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Copiague, N.Y.
